Your Cosmic Energy Centers: The Top 3 Chakras
In preparation for my Chakra Study Yoga Flow Workshop at Ramapo College of New Jersey on Oct. 9th at 6pm, I've created yoga art photography and written a bit on each chakra to ease one's understanding about the chakras, our energy body. The chakras are defined as 7 spinning wheels of rainbow colored light that are found at the base of the pelvis, run along our spine and up to the crown of our head. Since the chakras are energy they are sensed. This is where I feel art and a few words on each energy center can coax you into feeling what you experience in each of your chakras. In this post I'm focusing on the top 3 chakras found at the crown of your head, third eye and throat. I like to call them your cosmic energy centers because once they're are open and spinning your connection to your highest self is found.
You will notice in my notes that each chakra corresponds to a different emotion that I like to interpret as a positive affirmation that you can say to heal and empower yourself. Also each chakra is associated with a different part of the body, element in nature, color and mantra.
As you review this post take in each image and description. Then observe what you feel and where you feel it. There is no wrong or right answer, just notice. This is how we heal and balance our chakras, by feeling and not critically thinking about them.
*Next week I will post Your Earthly Energy Centers: The 1st 3 Chakras.
Sahasrara Chakra (pictured above) is a white spinning light that sits at your crown. It's a 1000 petal lotus that with devoted practice unfolds and unites you with your limitless self. It is associated with the element space and the sacred syllable is the mantra OM.
Healing Affirmation: "I am connected, understanding and blissful."
Ajna Chakra rests at the third eye and is the color of the twilight sky. When you chant the sacred syllable OM you come back home to your highest self and see clearly putting your story lines and projections on a shelf. It is associated with the element space.
Healing Affirmation: "I see the big picture and I accept my path."
Vishuddha Chakra is a turquoise light that floats in your throat. Chant HAM to ease your words and turn your communication into a blessing. The element is space.
Healing Affirmation: "I have clear, compelling and truthful speech."
